National Beat Poetry Poetry Festival’s 2019 with Poet David K. Leff

Join Homebound Publications poet David K. Leff on Saturday February 2, 2019 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. as he helps kick off the National Beat Poetry Poetry Festival’s 2019 season with a “Kerouac Cafe” at the beautiful Beekley Community Library in New Hartford, Connecticut. Poet Andrea Barton will also be featured, and troubadour Shawn Taylor will perform some of his fine “wandering roots” songs. Sign up for the open mic and enjoy some light refreshments. No better way to shake off the mid-winter blues and celebrate Groundhog Day. Hosts Colin Haskins and Debbie Tosun Kilday will ensure an entertaining afternoon. The program is free and open to the public. Donations are appreciated. The Licia & Mason Beekley Community Library is at 10 Central Avenue, New Hartford, Connecticut.



The Voices of Rivers (Clean Rivers and Wild Trout)

Warren Public Library Vermont, 413 Main Street, Warren, Vermont 05674, from 6:30pm – 9:30pm. Author Matthew Dickerson–a 2017 artist-in-residence at Glacier National Park, 2018 artist-in-residence at Lake Clark National Park, and author of A Tale of Three Rivers and Trout in the Desert–will share some of his experiences (as well as photos and videos) from his times at Glacier, Katmai, Lake Clark, and Acadia National Parks, documented in his newest book The Voices of Rivers. Nature Writing Workshop with Katherine Hauswirth

CFPA Headquarters, 16 Meriden Road, Middlefield, Connecticut 06481 from 1pm – 4pm | Join Katherine Hauswirth, author of The Book of Noticing: Collections and Connections on the Trail and blogger at First Person Naturalist, for a reading, book signing, and nature writing workshop on Sunday, April 28th from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM. The session will start with a brief reading from the book and some thoughts/resources on nature writing, and then the group will part ways to so that attendees can spend some reflective time outdoors. We will meet back to write and share what we’ve written (sharing optional). $15 for CFPA members, $20 non members. Sign up today
