Submission Guidelines for The Wayfarer

The Wayfarer is released four times a year. We currently publish both poetry and prose. In each issue we feature travel writing, short stories, interviews, original art and photography. We seek to explore the spiritual progression we are currently experiencing as individuals and a global community. We consider each piece we publish to be a milestone marker along the road to a fuller comprehension. We welcome everything from commentary articles, to well-developed essays to late-night scribbling, jotted down in moments of acute clarity.


General Submissions

 

The Wayfarer is currently accepting unso­licited sub­mis­sions. Our Journal publishes a wide array of styles. We are seeking poetry (any form as long as it is theme-relevant), non­fic­tion, (essays, auto­bi­o­graph­ical sto­ries, and travel writing), inter­views, short stories, articles and book reviews.

We prefer electronic sub­mis­sions. We now use a secure online system for our submissions. To use the automated system, you need to have an account at Submittable.com. {It is free to open. You can even sign in via your Facebook account.}

Response Time

Right now our response time to sub­mis­sions is 4 – 6 weeks.  Out of respect for writer, we try to keep a quick turn around. We will do our best to respond within 6 weeks but are sometimes slower in responding in we have a backlog.

Payment

Presently, we do not offer payment to our contributors. The Wayfarer is a new journal and still an endeavor of the heart rather than the checkbook. 

Publication Formats

The Wayfarer is an e-edition. Print copies are available through the Homebound Publications store should you desire one.

Artwork / Photography

 

Feature Photographer Query

Submitted works should be pre­vi­ously unpub­lished. We choose one feature photographer for each issue. If accepted the photographer will have 3-4 images featured throughout the journal as well as a full two-page spread on his/her work and background. If you would like to be considered to be a feature photographer please submit:

      • Samples of your work (In the form of a link to an online portfolio or a selection of 3 images attached to the query email.
      • A biographical statement
      • Brief cover letter
      • *We require all images be scanned with a res­o­lu­tion of at least 300 dpi. CMYK

General Art Queries

Atop the works of our feature photographer, we also include other original photographs/artwork in each issue. If you would like to submit a single piece for consideration please send:

      • The image(s) attached to the query email.
      • A biographical statement
      • Brief cover letter
      • We require all images be scanned with a res­o­lu­tion of at least 300 dpi. CMYK

Little Details

 

Simultaneous sub­mis­sions are permitted; how­ever, we ask to be noti­fied promptly if your sub­mitted work is accepted else­where.

If your work is sea­son­ally themed you should consider our issue dead­lines.

The Wayfarer’s Bi-annual Submission Deadlines:

  • Spring Issue Deadline: February 1st
  • Summer Issue Deadline: May 1st
  • Autumn Issue Deadline: August 1st
  • Winter Issue Deadline: November 1st
